How to Watch “Grey’s Anatomy” in Australia

It has been renewed for its 18th season.

If there was ever anything that had the potential to outlive the human race, you just know it would be Grey’s Anatomy.

After 17 seasons and a whole lotta characters come and gone, the medical drama series has been renewed again for Season 18.

Its spin-off series Station 19 is also being renewed for its fifth season.

Initially, the plan for the show was to end at the close of Season 17, considering COVID and the fact that the characters feel about 100-years-old at this point.

But Ellen Pompeo—who as we know plays the lead role of Meredith Grey—was more than keen to continue making the show as long as fans and producers were still passionate.

Well, it looks like they defs were, 'cos it’s officially happening. It might have also helped that thanks to this role, Pompeo takes home about $US600,000 per ep and it has made her the highest-paid actress in a drama series on telly (idk just a guess).

In the series’ current season, the storyline has a major focus on the coronavirus pandemic and current events like the Black Lives Matter movement, so it makes sense as to why the series is still so beloved.

There’s no telling yet if these themes will continue into Season 18 or which storylines are yet to come but it will see the return of actors Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens (Dr. Richard Webber).

So, how do I watch it in Australia?

At this stage, there's only been a renewal announcement for Season 18, so we're not sure when it'll premiere down under or which streaming service it'll land on.

Disney+, currently have Seasons 15 –17 and say that the newest episodes of Grey’s Anatomy are streaming there exclusively, so we can guess that’s probably where Season 18 will land at about the same time as the US.

If you want to play catch up or you've never seen the series before, Stan has 14 seasons you can stream.

Apple TV and Google Play both have 16 seasons, so you can also watch the show via those services. Although, you will have to buy any episodes or seasons that you want to watch and that can get kind of pricey at about $2 an episode or $20+ per season.

Grey’s Anatomy is ABC’s longest-running scripted series and is looking to keep riding that train until the end of time, so if you’re going to attempt a binge, get comfortable.
