How to Watch the English Premier League Live in Australia

The new season kicks off on 14 August.
Football fans will be approaching fever pitch levels of unbearable soon (me included) as the English Premier League season is set to kick off in less than two weeks.
Over the last few months we’ve been blessed with a buffet of football to gorge on with World Cup qualifiers, the 2020 Euros, and the Tokyo Olympics. Is there such a thing as a football overload?
Of course not.
Once the Olympics’ gold medal matches finish this weekend, there will be a week-long football void in our life. Thank God the EPL kicks off a week later.
To make sure you don’t miss a single goal, here’s how to watch the Premier League live in Australia.
When does the 2021/22 season start?
Matchweek one for the new EPL season begins next Saturday 14 August.
The first game sees Arsenal take on Brentford away from home at 5am AEST followed by a bunch of games later that night. You can check out the full list of fixtures here.
How do I watch the EPL in Australia?
Watching the top-tier of English football down under has never been easier with Optus Sport. Every game is live and on-demand, so you won’t miss a moment of the action.
Optus also have a heap of post-game interviews and match panelist discussions to watch too if you're mad about your football.
You will need a subscription for Optus Sport though and that will set you back $14.99 per month. If you’re already with Optus for your phone or internet plan, check if Optus Sport is included before signing up.

Can I watch it for free?
Sadly, no. Sure, there are some dodgy eastern European websites that will stream games live for free, but unless you speak fluent Russian then chances are you won’t understand the commentators.
Your best bet is to get chummy with a mate who has Optus Sport.

Who are the favourites to win the league?
Manchester City are an easy bet to take out the title again, but don’t count out Liverpool either. With the squad they have, they’re sure to take the fight to City.
Manchester United will also be competitive but it might be one season too soon for them to take the top spot. Likewise, Chelsea have a strong squad but will need to step it up to reach City’s level.
As for Arsenal and Tottenham, don’t get your hopes up.
The English Premier League kicks off Saturday 14 August at 5am AEST live on Optus Sport.

I’ve been using live football results to keep up with matches while juggling work, and it’s been super handy having instant scores and the deeper numbers like xG in one place. I like that I can follow specific teams so I don’t miss anything important, even on packed days. It’s been a solid way to stay on top of games without constantly hopping between apps.
