How to Grow a Better Moustache This Movember

You too can look like Bailey Smith.
Two days into November and men across Australia are growing moustaches for Movember to raise awareness for men’s health issues.
From the Ron Swanson to Borat, you’re gonna see all the different styles of ‘stache this month.
Unfortunately, not all of us have the testosterone levels of Hulk Hogan to grow a moustache as impressive and voluptuous as his—myself included.
In fact, it’s pretty common. Almost 24 per cent of men surveyed by BodyLogicMD have said they struggle growing facial hair.
So, if you’re one of those fellas who’s follicly challenged, here’s five things you can do to boost your chances of growing a moustache this Movember.

1. Sleep more.
Testosterone is a proven hormone of facial hair growth, so anything that you can do naturally to increase your levels will help grow that mo.
One way to do this is to sleep more. Studies have shown that men who get less sleep per night have reduced testosterone levels the following day.
You wanna get that 'stache? Turn off Netflix, put the phone away and get a good night sleep.

2. Exercise
It might sound simple but lifting weights and explosive resistance training is great for increasing hormones that get the moustache growth juices flowing.
These types of workouts not only boost testosterone production but also activate androgen receptors which basically regulate changes in hair growth.

3. Focus on healthy foods
No surprise here, but what you’re putting in your mouth can affect your testosterone and DHT (a hormone that stimulates the development of male characteristics).
We won’t go into too much detail behind the scientific studies of them all, but alfalfa sprouts, olive oil and raisins have all been proven to increase DHT and testosterone levels, leading you a little closer to your fuller moustache.

4. Improve circulation.
Hair follicles on your upper lip are gonna need a constant supply of hormones and nutrients to sprout that Ron Burgundy.
To get this, you’ll need to improve blood flow.
First up, try a good ol’ daily face massage. Take five minutes out of your day to rub your face and get the blood flowing.
Next, you’ll want to start regularly exfoliating your face to unclog those pores and remove dead skin cells. You can do this either by using a stiff bristle brush a few times a week or by getting an exfoliator scrub to use once or twice a week.
Make sure you be gentle with both the brush and the scrubs as you don’t want to damage your skin.

5. Use a beard Roller.
Finally, if all else fails then it’s time to consider a beard roller (aka micro-needling or Derma Roller).
Beard rollers are a device with minute needles that puncture small holes into the surface of the skin. The body responds to these punctures by starting the repair process, pumping nutrients, blood and hormones to the location.
As a result, beard rolling helps promote facial hair growth.
Now, you can do this at home but we strongly advise you to see a professional when it comes to micro-needling.

There you have it, five easy things you can do yourself to get turn that moustache from a Bailey Smith into a Freddie Mercury.
Remember, Movember is for a fantastic cause, and growing your mo helps raise money and awareness for men’s health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide.
