What are the top things Officeworks looks for when hiring casuals? 

“Key competencies we look for in our candidates include adaptability, great communication skills, dependability, drive for results, focus on safety and compliance orientation, service orientation, team orientation and a willingness to learn,” a representative told us. 

 

Can you give us examples of how students or casuals can stand out in their application or interviews? 

“Preparation is crucial,” Officeworks told us. 

“When candidates come in with a deep understanding of our service levels, it really shows,” they said.

Is prior knowledge or experience required to work at Officeworks? 

Officeworks “welcomes individuals of all knowledge and experience levels, as our diverse range of roles and responsibilities within the store network offers something for everyone,” a representative told us. 

Officeworks takes on students for their first summer job during their Back-to-School campaign, which runs from December, into the new year. 

 

What does a typical day working as a casual at Officeworks look like? 

“Everyday brings something new, regardless of which role you are responsible for,” Officeworks told Student Edge. 

We were informed that there are many roles casuals may work in, such as restocking shelves, working the registers, packing online orders or working in their Print & Create Department. 

 

Are there any potential opportunities that students/casuals can grow into within the company in the future? 

Officeworks has a great career pathways program that allows team members to progress their career. 

“There are roles [including] Senior Lead roles or Support Office functions like commercial, supply chain and technology,” a representative informed us.
