How to Apply for a Casual Job at HOYTS

Ever wanted to work at HOYTS? 

We spoke with Harris, a duty manager from HOYTS, to get the low down on how students can get a casual job there. 

 

Why does your team love working at HOYTS? 

“It’s such a vibrant atmosphere and you get to know a lot of people from different backgrounds,” Harris told Student Edge. 

“I’ve made lifelong friends here that will stick with me ” Harris said. 

 

What are the top things you look for when hiring casuals at HOYTS? 

“When it comes to hiring people, we look for people that are customer service oriented, have a good smile, approachable, adaptable and eager to do anything, no matter what they are thrown into,” Harris said. 

 

What’s an example of a time when a student/casual has applied and stood out? 

 
“I had this one worker who came into his interview really out there and very approachable” Harris told us. 

“I think he had a passion for film as well, which really translated into how he would work here once he was hired,” Harris added. 

 

Do you need any prior experience at HOYTS? 

“No not at all.” 

“I came from a hospitality background, but this is a lot of our teams first job,” Harris said. 

Haris informed us that HOYTS provides a lot of training for their team, so they are set-up to succeed. 

 

What does a typical day working at HOYTS look like? 

“It can be a bit intense sometimes, especially during our busy periods,” Harris told us. 

Daily roles can include making popcorn, serving and making drinks, making hot food, cleaning cinemas and more. 

 

Are there any potential career opportunities that casuals can grow into at HOYTS? 

“I started as a crew member and stayed in that role for about two years until recently becoming a duty manager,” Harris informed Student Edge. 

Harris told us that team members can grow into a team leader position or even bigger opportunities like a location manager at HOYTS.
