HBO Confirms "Euphoria" Season 2 Will Arrive In 2020

The controversial teen drama is officially coming back.
We have known for some time that Euphoria would be returning for a second season, but it’s always a relief to receive the official confirmation. Earlier this week, HBO released a trailer teasing all the original shows that will be hitting the network in 2020, including the lurid series.
While the exact date has not been confirmed yet, we know for sure that the confronting show will return next year. Considering Season 1 premiered back in June, it’s possible that it’s slated for mid-year release.
My favorite thing to do in the world is watch great TV. But watching hype sizzle reels is a close second.

As for what will happen in Season 2, it’s a bit early to say for sure. In an interview with the New York Times, one of its stars, Barbie Ferreira, teased a potential LGBTQ+ storyline, saying, "I think Kat’s a little queer, but that might be my perspective." It is definitely a possibility, especially given that Euphoria is never afraid to explore anything.
*Season1 spoilers ahead.*
The first season of the edgy Gen Z drama introduced us to Rue (Zendaya), a 17-year-old girl struggling with drug addiction after overdosing. Season 1 ended with her relapsing after three months of sobriety.
However, you can rest assured your favourite character is returning in S2. Despite fan theories that Rue (Zendaya) is dead, and is actually narrating the series from the afterlife, Jacob Eldori has said he doesn’t believe it. Plus, Zendaya tweeted in July that she’d "got the call" about Season 2.
Even though the series is definitely back for a second season, HBO president Casey Bloys told TVLine in July, "Well, [the characters] are in high school, so there are only so many seasons it can go." Although he has a point, it is absolutely heartbreaking to know that Euphoria probably won’t be around for that much longer.
If you’re yet to watch Season 1, you can stream it on Foxtel Now or buy all the episodes outright on Apple iTunes.
