“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Is Finally Coming to Australia in 2019

Break out the celebratory butter beer.

Last year, the Harry Potter saga got an extra chapter, but unless you lived in London, you had to rely on the measly ol’ script to find out what happened to adult Harry, Ron and Hermione.

That meant only dreaming of seeing its puppet-owls in person, or hearing the word "engorgimpressed" out loud.

Well, not anymore.

In early 2019, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will make its Australian debut, with an exclusive run at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the Cursed Child coup was “confirmation that Melbourne and Victoria really is the cultural capital of our nation,” in a not-so-subtle jab of the wand towards the muggles in Sydney.

Sorry, NSW. No Cursed Child for you.

Melbourne will become just the third destination in the world—after London and New York (in 2018)—to stage the production, scripted by Jack Thorne.

But if you really want them, you’ll have to stay sharp and move fast when they become available. As the ABC reports, some black market tix for the show in London went for more than $10,000 a pop.
