Google knows all and sees all, and is putting its omnipotent power to use…
… by telling us which foods are most Googled by Millennials.
Quake at its might!

For a new report titled ‘
2016 Food Trends on Google: The Rise of Functional Foods’, the search engine tracked ‘micro-moments’ in which U.S. consumers turned to Google for advice on their eating.
It found that more users are seeking the “best foods for” acid reflux, upset stomachs, skin and energy than ever before, with increased interest in ingredients such as turmeric, apple cider vinegar and avocado oil – all considered instrumental in bettering one’s body.
But enough about ‘healthy’ eating.
The report also revealed that foods like ramen, rigatoni, bibimbap, linguine, empanadas, Bundt cakes and uncured bacon – sweet, sweet uncured bacon – have been “sustained risers”, based on volume of searches over the past two years.
Meanwhile, “sustained decliners” include gluten free cupcakes, evaporated cane juice, wheat free bread, bacon cupcakes and bacon cinnamon rolls, probably because they all sound terrible.
Though ‘functional foods’ are the big heroes of 2016, Google has also noted increased experimentation with pork and the makings of a “pasta comeback”. Rigatoni, for instance, has enjoyed 26 per cent year over year growth after four years of stagnation.
Don’t call it a comeback: pasta’s been here for years.
