Fyre Festival Hosts Hit With $132 Million Lawsuit for Organising a Dumpster Fyre

We hope this Fyre Festival story never ends.
The ballad of Ja Rule's ill-fated Fyre Festival has just added another verse, with a $US100 million ($AUD132.5m) class-action lawsuit newly filed against event organisers.
Over the weekend, Fyre Festival—arranged by Ja Rule and investment-bro Billy McFarland—became a punchline on social media, when its wealthy attendees—who had paid up to $US12,000 for the "luxury" experience, lured by models and Instagram influencers—found themselves in a Hunger Games scenario, trapped in the Bahamas with only some emergency services tents for shelter, and sad-looking sandwiches for sustenance.
This is how it was teased:

And this is how it looked:
The festival was promptly cancelled and Rule said sorry on social media, though he also insisted the disorganisation was not his fault.
Bella Hadid, who was paid to promote the fest, similarly distanced herself with an online "apology".

And while Hadid and her fellow Instafamous friends will likely evade any court action (for now), the same can't be said for Ja Rule and McFarland.
According to Vulture, celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos has filed a class-action lawsuit seeking $US100 million in damages on behalf of at least one attendee. (It's hoped more will add their names to the suit.)
The lawsuit alleges Ja Rule and McFarland knew their festival was destined to flop, but continued lying about it. The defendants' case is not helped by reports that the celebs who'd been lined up to promote the festival were apparently warned not to attend.
The suit also claims the experience of the festival was "closer to The Hunger Games or Lord of the Flies than Coachella."
Ja Rule and McFarland are also maybe facing a suit from the Bahamas, for potentially damaging future tourism.
At least we'll always have this iconic suggestion from a member of Fyre Festival's marketing team, who reportedly rejected a plan to delay the festival by a year: "Let's just do it and be legends, man."
