The Fyre Fest Supermodels May Have to Explain Their Payments for That Ad in Court

The Fyre fallout isn’t over yet.

The agencies representing supermodels Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and more are getting tangled up in the bankruptcy case against Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland.

According to E! News, the agencies of the models who appeared in the now-infamous Fyre promo video (or promoted the fest on Instagram) are being subpoenaed, meaning they’ll have to go to bankruptcy court and answer questions relating to their payments.

Here they are, in better times:

Investigators are trying to figure out what happened to the $US11.3 million paid out by McFarland in the lead-up to the festival, and that includes $US1.2 million paid to IMG Models, which represents Hadid, Bieber and Elsa Hosk. DNA Model Management, which represents Emily Ratajkowski, is being subpoenaed as well, to answer for the $US299,000 paid by McFarland in March of 2017. A further $US250,000 paid to Jenner in January of 2017 (seemingly for one, now-deleted Insta post) is also being investigated.

In total, McFarland raised $US26 million from investors for a festival that, yeah, didn’t go to plan.

Many other organisations are being subpoenaed too, including those representing musical acts Blink 182, Lil Yachty, Migos and Rae Sremmurd.

McFarland is already serving six years in prison for wire fraud, as documented in Netflix’s new documentary Fyre. His former business partner, Ja Rule, has claimed he was scammed by McFarland. However, he apologised to those affected by the festival following the doco’s release.
