Five Movies or TV Shows You Should Watch on Prime Video

Grab your snacks and get comfy 📺

Looking for your next TV show or movie to watch? Or maybe you need a comfort watch in between school/uni/TAFE and studying?

Whether or not you’re into all those action shots, a cosy romantic comedy or a Prime original, we’ve put together five movies and TV shows you shouldn’t miss on Prime.

If you haven’t got an Amazon Prime Video subscription it costs $9.99 a month.

However, luckily you can get a cheeky 30-day free trial first if you are keen to sign up.

Fallout.

The show was only released in April and has already been renewed for a second season to no one’s surprise.

The series is set in a reimagined timeline  with major technological advances and a scary looking future. After World War II, the world became more involved in nuclear power which resulted in the Great War of 2077 which is where we see our characters trying to survive in fallout bunkers or Vaults.

The show is also based on a video game so if this post-apocalyptic drama is for you, you’ll probably be running to buy the game too.

My Lady Jane.

If you love TV shows like The Crown, The Great or even Bridgerton you’ll love the sarcastic tone this historical reimagining takes.

Set in an alternate16^th century England, this TV show is a retelling of the life of Lady Jane Grey, who in this alternate world has been coerced into marrying Lord Guildford Dudley. Not to mention in this version, humans can also take animal form known as Ethians and have been driven out of society and formed a group called the Pack.

Prime Video has unfortunately cancelled My Lady Jane after one season but fans are revolting given how much they are loving Jane and Guildford’s on-screen chemistry. So, who knows, another network may pick it up for future seasons!

Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.

Set thousands of years before the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, this prequel series on Prime Video showcases the events of Middle-earth’s Second Age. Think forging the Rings of Power, the rise of Sauron and even the last alliance between elves and men.

Season two will be released 29 August, and we will pick up where we left off, to see what Sauron and Galadriel get up after she rejected him at the end of season one.

Jackpot!

An action-comedy movie with Awkwafina, John Cena and Simu Liu? Sign us up.

This new film is set in a futuristic California (we’re seeing a pattern here with TV shows/films set in the past or the future), where anyone can win the largest jackpot prize ever. But if someone kills the jackpot winner before sunset, they can claim the prize.

Awkwafina’s character Katie, accidentally wins the lottery and her life becomes a mad dash as she tries to avoid bounty hunters and other mercenaries. She teams up with Noel (John Cena) who helps her avoid being killed.

Anyone But You.

This fake-dating, summer romance overtook our social media feeds in December 2023 and for good reason. Bea and Ben are forced to fake their relationship while they attend a destination wedding in Sydney, Australia. And it doesn’t help that they can’t stand each other.

This feel-good movie is full of chaos as these two navigate their fake romance which begins to look more real as the film goes on.

But even if our picks aren’t for you, there’s still other shows and films you can watch on Prime Video, like Saltburn, Madame Web or The Beekeeper.

So sign up for a 30-day free trial here and get watching.
