Emilia Clarke Joins The "Star Wars" Universe For Han Solo Spin-Off (But Not As Han, Sadly)

The Game of Thrones universe is about to intersect with the Star Wars galaxy. Kinda.

And short of Joffrey being recruited as a Sith Lord, or Rey teaming up with Arya for some intergalactic score settling, it’s the best crossover we could have hoped for.

Emilia Clarke, aka Daenerys Targaryan, has joined the cast of the upcoming Han Solo prequel flick, in an undisclosed role. (It’s unlikely she’ll be reprising Mother of Dragons, but we hardly think she’s been recruited to play a wallflower, either.)

The news was broken, very suddenly and sneakily, on Saturday via StarWars.com.

Clarke will join Alden Ehrenreich, the Hail, Caeser! scene-stealer who'll be playing twenty-something Han, and Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, our new Lando Calrissian. Chewbacca will also be getting up to mischief with these youthful Nerf herders.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, previously of 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, are directing the film, set for release in 2018.

We know, we know: Don’t get cocky. But this thing is shaping up really nicely.
