Disney Finally Tells Us About the Upcoming "Star Wars" Movie on Han Solo

Chewy, the Millenium Falcon and how Solo met Lando.

Disney has revealed the plot of their upcoming Star Wars standalone film, Solo, which will tell us all about the origin of Han Solo.

It's pretty bare bones at the moment for a movie that's slated to be released in a few months, but at this point, we'll take what we can get.

The synopsis reads:

"Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes."

Some were a bit disappointed that we only got two sentences.

So, while it isn't quite what we hoped for (a trailer? some screengrabs?), it does confirm a few things we suspected (how Chewy, Lando and Solo all become buds, for instance). 

The film will see Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) play Han Solo, Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino as Lando Calrissian as well as Woody Harrelson and the mother of dragons, Emilia Clarke. 

Solo will be released in the United States on 25 May, so Australia is likely to see it released around that time.
