Did Donald Trump Invent a Fake Friend Named 'Jim'? Maybe!

Right now, U.S. president Donald Trump needs all the friends he can get. Even fake ones.

As scandal continues to envelop his family (particularly son Donald Trump Jr., who revealed he had accepted a meeting with a Kremlin-associated lawyer for dirt on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign), President Trump prepares for his next foreign trip to France.

The impending trip has reminded American media of a speech conducted by Trump in February, where he spoke of “a friend” (“a very, very substantial guy”) named ‘Jim’, who would always holiday in Paris but now refuses to visit the City of Lights.

The first red flag, of course, is Trump saying he has a friend. (He’s not really a ‘friend’ guy.) But the Associated Press has sought further clarification on who this mysterious Jim might be.

The AP says “whether Jim exists is unclear”, as Trump has never offered a last name, and the White House has not responded to their request for comment. So, the AP is basically implying ‘Jim’ is the equivalent of Pam Brady’s fictional boyfriend George Glass.

If Jim is fake, it wouldn’t be the first time Donald Trump invented (or even posed as) a different person.

It’s not known if Trump was perhaps inspired by Split (it did come out two weeks before his CPAC speech), or if this ‘Jim’ character has asked ol’ buddy Donald to not publicly out him as one of his pals.

Honestly, we don’t blame him.
