“Dawson’s Creek” Is Coming Back to Netflix But Without Its OG Theme Song

I said, I don’t want to wait!

In very un-2020 news the Netflix gods have decided to bless us in Australia with another hit TV series from the '90s, Dawson’s Creek, this November.

On the other hand, in some very 2020 news, Netflix has decided to break our hearts once again and give us the series without its original theme song: "I Don’t Want to Wait" by Paula Cole.

Starring Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, James Van Der Beek, Busy Phillips and Joshua Jackson, the nostalgic show aired on The WB from 1998 to 2003.

If you haven’t seen it before, this angsty, American, teen drama tracks the story of a close-knit group of friends from high school all the way to college.

Just like the last time Dawson’s Creek was on Netflix, the show will instead feature Jann Arden’s "Run Like Mad", which was originally made for the show in international markets.

Essentially, Paula Cole’s "I Don’t Want to Wait" was only licensed for broadcast in the US and years on, that still hasn’t changed, so like most streaming services, Netflix is sticking to their guns when it comes to broadcast rights.

While we will still have to wait for the original tune, Netflix has made sure that we won’t have to wait for any episodes (phew). Yes, all six seasons and 128 episodes will be available to stream by 1 November.

Long-time fans of the show are very used to watching the series without its original theme song because it didn’t appear on the home video releases back in the day and most streaming services globally are also missing it.

The show's addition to Netflix will mean a whole new generation of fans will discover the show with the wrong song next month, so my heart is hurting.

While it’s painful, we likely won’t have to hear it anyways, considering Netflix let’s you skip intros (woo!)

So because we're missing out, here's the song for some mems.
