Chris Pratt Will Voice Mario in Nintendo’s “Super Mario Bros.” Animated Movie

Mamma Mia that’s an all-star cast.

Everyone’s favourite Italian plumber Mario is coming to the big screen next year for the Super Mario Bros. animated movie and Chris Pratt will voice the iconic video game character.

The announcement was dropped at the Nintendo Direct online conference and it’s fair to say the gaming company have gone all-out to make this one of the biggest video game film adaptations ever.

Pratt is no stranger to animated films, having voiced Emmet in The Lego Movie which I will forever claim is one of the best animated movies of the last 20 years. Prove me wrong.

Joining Pratt is Charlie Day (Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Mario’s brother Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) as the blonde Princess Peach who is forever in the clutches of the game series' villain Bowser, played by Jack Black (Jumanji).

Rounding out the cast is the ever-funny Seth Rogan (Bad Neighbours) as Donkey Kong and comedian Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele) as Toad.

If that cast doesn’t get you frothin’ then you might just be dead inside.

Now, if you’re wondering about the bloke who was the original voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, he has joined the cast and will voice a load of cameos in the movie.

On paper, this film should be a slam dunk. With the cast they have signed, plus the animation studio behind Despicable Me and Sing, the Super Mario Bros. film looks set to deliver big time.

The only bad news out of all of this is we’re gonna have to wait until 21 December 2022 for its cinematic release.
