Chook Brexit: KFC Restaurants Close Across United Kingdom Over Chicken Shortage

Pray for the U.K.

In the most devastating post-Brexit blow yet, hundreds of KFC restaurants across the United Kingdom have been forced to close due to a chicken shortage.

Don’t panic too much: It’s not like chickens have suddenly disappeared and gone back to their home planet ahead of the Brex-pocalypse, a’la dolphins in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Rather, KFC says the shortage is due to some “teething problems” with its new delivery partner, DHL. Of course, they could have been a little more sensitive in their choice of words, given the fact chooks famously lack teeth.

According to CNN, about 800 of KFC’s 900 locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland were closed as of Monday, and the rest only had a limited menu, or were working to shortened hours.

KFC has even had to create an emergency URL to tell anyone desperate for their next hit where they can go and get it.

"We know that this might have inconvenienced some of you over the last few days, and disappoint you when you wanted your fried chicken fix - we're really sorry about that," KFC said in a statement.

The company also said they would be paying staff as normal during this national crisis.

But that hasn’t quieted the complaints of the people.

Should the shortage ever reach Australia, this child will be our spokesperson.
