"Chewbacca Was a Woman the Whole Time": Stephen Colbert Made a Woke "Star Wars" Trailer

"Plus, the Lady Ghostbusters are here for some reason."

Last week, it was revealed that racist, misogynist Star Wars "fans" (and probably some non-Star Wars fans who just enjoy racism and misogyny) had likely chased The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran off social media, after months of hateful comments.

These bigots were roundly shamed by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, and Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

However, Stephen Colbert found an even better solution than an online tut-tutting: he's making a new Star Wars movie that only focuses on the female characters, turns Dark Maul into "an intersectional feminist" and reveals Chewie was a woman the whole time. Its title? Star Wars Episode IX: Shut the Hell Up You Broken Hateful Dweebs.

Okay, Colbert's trailer for Episode IX is just for yuks, made for his Late Show program.

But, on the bright side, Star Wars is already centered on a female heroine: Rey (Daisy Ridley, who was herself pushed off social media in 2016 by trolls). So, keep screaming into the void, Star Jerks.
