Delightful Person Daisy Ridley Pushed Off Instagram By Pro-Gun Trolls

Some days, the internet gives us so much to be thankful for.
Today is not one of those days.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Daisy Ridley has deleted her Instagram account, after she received a torrent of abuse from those who opposed her message decrying gun violence.
According to Vulture, the post in question was published soon after Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards, where Ridley witnessed a condemnation of gun violence in the United States.
“Thinking about how lucky I am like......... Serious bit: as I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence,” she wrote.
“I didn't get a great picture of the incredible group that came onstage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence.”
Her account has since been deactivated, and gone with it are the comments calling her out for being anti-gun violence. Needless to say, the messages were unkind, unnecessary and wildly misguided.
Earlier this year, Ridley spoke out against an Insta-hater who claimed she was setting “unrealistic expectations… for young girls” because, apparently, “real women have curves”.
“I will not apologise for how I look, what I say and how I live my life cause what’s happening inside is much more important anyway,” she responded.
For this reason, and many more (like the fact she announced a collaboration with Barbra Streisand via Instagram), we’re seriously sorry to see her go.
Thankfully, she’s still on Facebook, where she remains delightful.
