Bob Katter Goes from Cheerful to Cranky, Croc-Fearing in Bizarre Response to Marriage Equality

Zero to 100, real quick.
Independent MP Bob Katter has made no secret of his feelings towards marriage equality, or the recent postal survey on the issue: it was a big “No” from him.
And yet, Australia disagreed, delivering a huge 61.6 per cent result in favour of “Yes”, guaranteeing a path towards the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Australia (once Parliament can agree on a bill).
Did the celebrations on November 15 soften Katter’s heart? Umm, we’re not sure.
Soon after the result was made public, Katter railed against Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Hot 91.1 FM, saying Parliament “spent an entire year occupied by this stupidity,” while the “country is burning”.
But then, his mood—briefly—changed during a press conference in which he was asked to share his feelings on the result.
You… you should watch it.
Breaking news: This footage just won the Oscar for Best Picture.
“People are entitled to their sexual proclivities,” he cheerfully laughs in the clip.
“I mean, let there be a thousand blossoms bloom, as far as I’m concerned.”
But there’s a reason the 20-second clip of his response, shared on ABC’s Insiders, went viral, and it’s not because Katter used the phrases “thousand blossoms bloom”.
In an unpredictable twist, Katter once again shifted from cheerfully celebrating the result (we think?) to angrily explaining how “every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in North Queensland.”
Good to know!
Blossoms aside, Katter is still expected to vote "no" when a marriage equality bill passes through Parliament.
