Ben & Jerry’s Bans Same-Flavour Double Scoops Until Australia Has Marriage Equality

American ice cream giants Ben & Jerry's have taken a stance against Australia's inaction towards marriage equality by banning purchases of two same-flavour scoops until the law changes.
The announcement arrived on the same day Taiwan became the first country in Asia to enact same-sex marriage, while Australia trails behind much of the world on this issue.
Earlier this month, the 2017 Federal Budget revealed that the same-sex marriage plebiscite was still on the cards for a cool $170 million.
The plebiscite has garnered a lot of criticism with many saying it is a waste of money and time due to its non-binding nature and the fact that the law can simply be changed within parliament.
This isn't the first time Ben & Jerry's has taken a stance on social justice issues. Last year, the company publicly supported the Black Lives Matter movement and made a case for action on climate change.
People took to Twitter to express their support for the latest campaign.

But not everyone was impressed.
Am I the only non-straight person who thinks Ben & Jerry's banning two same-scoops of ice cream for the sake of marriage equality is stupid?

@Brocklesnitch I mean, who eats 2 scoops of the same ice cream? But it's a nice corporate gesture

Ben & Jerry's is refusing to sell same-scoops in Aus. until gay marriage is legal. Cool! Let's trivialize an actual issue to sell ice cream.

ABETZ:
i change my vote.

Do you think Ben & Jerry's has made a good choice with this decision or is it just another PR campaign of faux-woke activism?
