When Is 'Battlefield 2042' Coming Out?

Here’s what we know so far.
It’s official, the Battlefield franchise is heading back to the modern era as developer DICE revealed that Battlefield 2042 will drop on 19 November this year.
Set 21 years in the future, Battlefield 2042 is a world that is on the brink of total war as the United States and Russia rekindle their Cold War rivalry to settle who is the leading global superpower.
The new game—which will be available on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S—revealed in its first trailer that this Battlefield will be unlike anything we’ve ever played before, featuring wing suits, robot combat dogs, hovercrafts and a crazy new weather system that includes violent tornados.
Here’s what we know so far about Battlefield 2042.
No single-player campaign.
We might as well get the bad news out of the way first: there is no single-player campaign for Battlefield 2042.
DICE have chosen instead to put their focus into multiplayer mode and tell a story through that. It sucks we know, but multiplayer gaming is where the money is made today.
Maps
Battlefield 2042 will launch with seven massive maps, each with its own futuristic take on today’s world.
- Kaleidoscope: set in South Korea, players fight in a state-of-the-art metropolis of skyscrapers and plazas.
- Hourglass: set in Doha, Qatar, fighting erupts in a city lost to the desert that surrounds it.
- Orbital: set in French Guiana, combat takes place around the launch site of a rocket that is prone to storms.
- Manifest: set in Singapore, tropical tornados frequent this port that is home to a labyrinth of shipping containers.
- Discarded: set in India, the west coast of the country is now a graveyard for ships run aground. A perfect environment to engage in war.
- Breakaway: set in Antarctica, the oilfields in the ice are a strategic location to capture. Be mindful of the snowstorms though.
- Renewal: set in the deserts of Egypt, a giant wall has been built to separate the desert and the man-made agricultural fields. Just watch out for when the walls begin to fall.
Dynamic weather.
As already mentioned, Battlefield 2042 is going to have a chaotic weather system that is going to really spice up how we play.
Tornados, sandstorms, lightning and other natural disasters are all included in the game and the player will need to navigate them as well as engage in combat.
From the trailer, it looks like if players have a wingsuit equipped, they can use the tornado to their advantage and glide to another part of the map. Nifty.
Massive online servers for current-gen consoles.
For PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC gamers, Battlefield 2042 is throwing 128 players into a server. Anyone on a PS4 or Xbox One will only have access to 64 player matches.
Speaking of matches, players can now choose to have a lobby full of AI opponents. This allows people new to the Battlefield franchise to get used to this style of game before diving in to a full 128 player match.
Price
PS5 and Xbox Series X users will need to fork out $US69.99 while PS4 and Xbox One gamers will pay less at $US59.99. No news yet on how much it will cost for Aussies but we'll keep you updated when we know more.
Ngl, based on the trailer and all the deets made available so far, Battlefield 2042 is gonna be a must-have come 19 November.
