Autopsy Reveals Prince Died Of Accidental Opioid Overdose

More than a month after he was found dead in his Paisley Park residence, authorities have finally revealed Prince’s cause of death.
Autopsy results show that Prince died of a fentanyl overdose; fentanyl being a powerful opioid painkiller apparently 50 times more potent than heroin, according to the AP.
There had been rumblings that Prince had passed away on April 21 as a result of an opioid addiction. It was reported he had a scheduled appointment with Dr. Howard Kornfeld, an addiction specialist, on April 22.
As Dr. Kornfeld was flying in from California, he had sent his son Andrew to Prince’s residence on the 21st. It was Andrew who found Prince’s body and called the authorities. (Though Andrew is not a doctor, he was carrying opioid-addiction medication buprenorphine at the time.)
Experts anticipate an investigation into who precisely provided Prince with fentanyl. It is not known whether or not the aforementioned doctors will be subject to investigation, though their family attorney has stated that his clients never delivered, dispensed or administered medication to Prince.
Though knowing the reason behind Prince’s untimely passing – at age 57 – does not make the news of his death any easier, hopefully ending the mystery and rumour-mongering will help his family, friends and family move on to remembering him as the inimitable music icon and prodigious talent that he was, above all else.
