Attention: You Can Now Watch Netflix Offline

Netflix has announced it is now allowing users to download select movies and TV Shows for offline playback.

Yes, you heard right: offline playback.

The world’s largest on-demand video network will roll out the new download feature on phones and tablets for all subscribers, as reported by Bloomberg.

It will only be available for select shows such as The Crown and Orange is the New Black at first, according to a statement on Wednesday.

Netflix product innovation chief Eddy Wu wrote a web-post on the update: “While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their 'Stranger Things’ binge while on airplanes and other places where internet is expensive or limited.”

The company had been signaling the addition of a download option in recent months. It is expected offline viewing will make Netflix shows more accessible to customers in all corners of the globe, particularly developing markets in Asia and Africa.

It goes without saying: People are very excited.

As part of an update to Netflix’s mobile app, a new “download and watch later” icon will now appear for subscribers below program information.

Oh, and the new feature comes at no extra charge at all.
