Anna Kendrick Wants To Be Marvel’s “Squirrel Girl” And We Should Let Her

Anna Kendrick is not exactly hurting for work, but that doesn’t mean the omnipresent Pitch Perfect star should be denied further employment opportunities.

On the hustings for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (just one of her six 2016 releases), Kendrick has said she’s pretty open to playing a superhero somewhere down the line.

But it’s not Captain Marvel or She-Hulk that she has her eye on; rather, Squirrel Girl.

Speaking to Net-a-Porter, Kendrick said her brother raised the idea with her.

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Haha, yes, Kendrick is the internet’s endearingly goofy girlfriend, but that doesn’t mean her self-deprecating cracks shouldn’t be taken deadly seriously by the Hollywood producers who can actually make this magic happen.

Squirrel Girl, besides being today’s most Googled comic book character, is a high schooler who rescues Iron Man from Doctor Doom with the help of her squirrel army and squirrel-themed powers.

Marvel, if you have a sane bone in your corporate body, snag Kendrick for this gig. Sure, at 30, she’s probably aged out of the ‘high schooler’ aspect of Squirrel Girl’s persona, but Anna is otherwise all-squirrel, all the time.
