American TV Station With Zero Chill Makes Weatherwoman Put On More Clothes Mid-Broadcast

“We’re getting emails.”

Look, no one’s saying a glittering black dress is the required uniform for a TV weatherwoman, but shaming a person for their clothing while they’re trying to do their job (on the air!) is a real jerk move.

And yet, that’s what Los Angeles station KTLA did to their incredibly-named meteorologist Liberté Chan.

During her Saturday morning weather report, Chan was handed a gray cardigan by a disembodied arm (we later learned, belonging to her co-anchor, Chris Burrous).

When asked for an explanation, she was only told by the off-camera voice, “We’re getting emails.”

The trooper put on the cardy and continued her report. Later, she returned to the air to explain that a previously-planned dress didn’t work well with the green screen; hence, the not-at-all revealing black number. Burrous – a real swell dude – told her that audience reaction to her dress had been “50/50”, and was moved to remedy this by offering her the cardigan. Great work, everyone! Do you all feel better now?

On her blog (lifeofliberte.com!), Chan reiterated that she was not ordered by the station to add extra layers, but was simply playing along with her co-anchor’s joke.

Cool joke, bro.
