Kit Harington Repeatedly Told He "Knows Nothing" After Complaining About Sexism Towards Men

Kit Harington, recently resurrected star of Game of Thrones, has complained of being objectified.

Understandably, observers have reacted to his comments thusly:

It began in a chat with the UK Sunday Times, in which the 29-year-old actor complained of the “double standard” when it comes to male objectification in the entertainment industry.

“I like to think of myself as more than a head of hair or a set of looks,” he argued.

“If you said to a girl, ‘Do you like being called a babe?’ and she said, ‘No, not really,’ she’d be absolutely right.”

All pretty reasonable? This, however, is where he inspired the ire of the internet:

“Yes, in some ways you could argue I’ve been employed for a look I have. But there’s a sexism that happens towards men.”

Everyone thought of the same joke immediately.

Though his comments were unlikely meant to cause offence – and the initial points he raises hold water – it’s somewhat hypocritical for the star of a show famous for its uneven portrayal of female and male genitalia to complain of being a victim of sexism in the entertainment industry.

And to suggest the level of sexism in the industry might be equal to that of his female co-stars, well, let him listen to Emilia Clarke's thoughts on “junk equality” and see if he still feels the same way. (“I did it. Why can’t the boys do it?")

This is not the hill to die on, Kit.
