A Couple 500s: The Top Five Moments of AFL Round 18

The Dees upset the Lions in a big way.

Another week, another host of absolutely incredible AFL moments.

We’re nearing the pointy end of the season now, so let’s go through the top five moments of round 18.

5. 500 for a special umpire.

It’s special when a player reaches a milestone, but we need to give some props to an incredible umpire.

On Saturday, umpire Brett Rosebury officiated his 500^th game, becoming the 25^th umpire to do so.

After umpiring his first match way back in 2000, Rosebury has had a stellar career, including umpiring a massive nine grand finals.

4. Daicos continues to impress.

Honestly, Nick Daicos probably deserves a spot on this list every week.

This week, he gets the #4 slot for an incredible 36-disposal effort against Fremantle, highlighted by a classy shrug-off into a screaming goal.

3. A Darling 500.

Despite it not being a great season for West Coast, Jack Darling has to be celebrated here.

On Sunday, the Eagles forward slotted his 500^th career goal, becoming just the third West Coast player to ever do so.

He joins the likes of legends like Josh Kennedy and Peter Sumich.

2. Fletcher officially arrives on the scene.

A father-son pick is always an exciting one.

This year, Brisbane have been lucky enough to enjoy two father-son picks, one of which is Jaspa Fletcher, the son of Brisbane legend Adrian Fletcher.

On Saturday, he announced himself with an incredible intercept that led to a solo goal.

1. Melksham for the win.

It’s the game of the round for a reason.

After leading all through the first half, Melbourne lost the lead to Brisbane and looked poised to lose.

But with seven minutes to go, something changed.

Melbourne kicked the final four goals of the game, including an incredible sealer from Jake Melksham to take home the win.
