A Boba Fett "Star Wars" Spin-Off Is Coming, From the Director of "Logan"

Things are gonna get dark.

Ever since Disney snapped up Lucasfilm and pledged to make new Star Wars sequels and spin-offs, there have been rumours of a standalone Boba Fett movie.

Understandably, too. Sure, he died an embarrassing death, basically tripping into the maw of a Sarlacc, but prior to that, you know, he had a cool jetpack.

The Hollywood Reporter is now saying Disney will officially make a film about the intergalactic bounty hunter, and has set Logan director James Mangold to helm.

Mangold will apparently co-write the flick with X-Men producer Simon Kinberg. What’s not known is how closely the spin-off will hew to the Boba Fett origin story, as realised by George Lucas in the notorious Star Wars prequels.

Anyway, since we’re entirely in the speculative stage of this Boba Fett flick, everyone’s making the same (very amusing) joke.

The Boba Fett movie is just him being knocked into the sarlaac pit in super slow motion for two hours.

I hope the Boba Fett movie is the coolest Star Wars movie ever made for an hour and 30 minutes.

Then you realize it’s all a dream flashing through his brain a second before he slams into Jabba’s sail barge and drops into the Sarlaac pit

Lucasfilm is also reportedly still interested in a spin-off centered on Obi-Wan Kenobi, with Stephen Daldry in negotiations to direct.

Hmm. The rest of us had some either ideas.

"So, um ... the thing fans are most excited about from our Solo film is ... Lando."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Well, you know what we have to do."

"Of course."

"I'll green light the Boba Fett film immediately."
