Zayn Malik Cancels London Gig; Blames “The Worst Anxiety Of My Career”

Zayn Malik has apologised to fans for his cancellation at a London’s festival over the weekend, sharing with them the details of his struggle with anxiety.
In a revealing Instagram post, the “PILLOWTALK” singer said he had been “haunted” in recent months by anxiety, and, with the pressure of the impending performance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball mounting, he suffered “the worst anxiety of my career”.
The gig would have been his first in Britain as a solo performer.
Prior to his exit from One Direction, Malik exited 1D's world tour after similarly citing exhaustion and stress.
His girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, offered a note of support on Twitter (in spite of persistent breakup rumours).
“I’ve seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans,” she wrote.

Hopefully Zayn's comments will help to continue to destigmatise anxiety, and remind people that mental health is never treated by success alone.
