Insta-Hoax: Did Niall Horan Really Vote 'No' on a Fan’s Poll Asking If They Should Date?

All those in favour, say 'Niall'.

We hate to debunk one of the purest hoaxes in recent memory, but Niall Horan’s honour is at stake.

In what appeared to be one of the most devastating self-owns in the history of 1D fandom, a young lady tagged Niall Horan in an Instagram poll asking if they should date, and he apparently responded with a cutting, simple, "No".

Except… he probably didn’t.

Let's go back: A Twitter user by the name of Tory Appel met Niall in America on July 27, live-tweeting the lead-up to their meet-and-greet and then sharing the evidence of their interaction. So far, so honest.

After practicing her smile in the mirror for 24 hours, and remarking how he "smells so good and has the most beautiful blue eyes", Tory thanked him "a million times" for his concert and the "incredible experience" of meeting him. Very earnest!

But then, she appeared to take the fandom a step too far, tagging him in a now infamous Instagram poll asking her friends if they should date.

And though a remarkable 84 per cent answered in the affirmative, Tory posted what seems to be evidence of Niall spending his free-time down-voting appreciative fan fantasies. As of this writing, the post has been retweeted 74,000 times and liked an incredible 254,000 times.

However, Tory has basically confirmed that the voting result was faked, immediately following up with a tweet saying, "Lmao could you even imagine" and retweeting those who noted that it’s clearly a joke.

Niall hasn’t yet commented on the scandal yet, nor has his rumoured actual girlfriend, Hailee Steinfeld. Naturally, we are on the edge of our seats waiting for them to chime in with a goofy reply.
