YouTuber Dies After Performing Dangerous Shooting Stunt With Partner

A YouTube stunt has ended in tragedy for a U.S. couple trying to get famous through their vlogs.

Monalisa Perez, 19, and Pedro Ruiz, 22, were engaging in a dangerous stunt that involved Pedro holding an encyclopaedia against his chest, and Monalisa firing a gun into it.

Tragically, the bullet ended up killing Pedro in front of about 30 of their neighbours as well as their three-year-old child. Monalisa has now been charged with second-degree manslaughter, which is when a death is caused by reckless behaviour (but with no intent to harm the person).

Monalisa posted on her Twitter that the stunt wasn't her idea before the shooting.

The couple were trying to get YouTube famous and dedicated their YouTube channel, La MonaLisa, to showcasing "the real life of a young couple who happen to be teen parents."

Some of their other pranks included pretty mild stuff comparatively like a whispering challenge, putting baby powder on Pedro's doughnut and giving him a sandwich with the world's hottest pepper on it (which did end up in him getting pretty sick).

Monalisa is due to have the couple's second baby in September. If charged, she could face up to 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.
