YouTube Has (Finally) Decided to Ban Dangerous Pranks and Stunts

See ya later dangerous YouTube stunts, 2019 says you're cancelled.
It's the Great Age of Viral Memes and Challenges so, naturally, there are new and more creative ones popping up every week.
One of the latest challenges was inspired by the Netflix movie Birdbox, in which Sandra Bullock and two children blindfold themselves to avoid making eye contact with an evil entity that threatens to harm them.
In real life, the challenge was simply to blindfold yourself and do something silly.

Most people were pretty chill with it and just walked around their houses or backyards; ya know, normal and perfectly fine things to do. A few people, like Jake Paul who decided to run into traffic while doing the Bird Box challenge, were not chill with it.
Netflix had to remind everyone that it probably wasn't a good idea to do the challenge just "for the memes".
YouTube, the home of a lot of Bird Box challenges and an array of other silly (and sometimes, fatal) stunts, has since decided to update its policy and ban any problematic content.
Their new policy admits that while they have been "prohibiting harmful and dangerous content", it will now also extend to "pranks with a perceived danger of serious physical injury."
That means pranks that emulate home invasions or drive-by shootings, while just being "pranks", are no longer allowed to be hosted on the site.

Just a reminder for those in the back that didn't quite hear it: the #InMyFeelings challenge, the Justin Bieber burrito prank and the Ice Bucket Challenge are all in the totally fine viral stunt baskets.
What's not in that basket of goodies? The Tide Pod Challenge (OBVIOUSLY), the Bird Box challenge (no way!), and probably half of the stuff Logan Paul gets up to in the name of "good content".
Let's head into 2019 with all our limbs and good sense intact.
