You Can Now Be Permanently Banned From “Pokémon Go” For Messing With Geolocation, Third Party Apps

Niantic is not messing around.

The developers behind Pokémon Go have begun permanently banning players who try to fool the game with a variety of hacks and third party software.

According to Mashable, Niantic has updated their FAQ page in regards to banned accounts, listing all the ways in which you can forever be denied the opportunity to happen upon yet another Zubat.

We’ll let them explain themselves in their own words:

“Your account was permanently terminated for violations of the Pokémon GO Terms of Service. This includes, but is not limited to: falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokémon GO clients or backends in an unauthorised manner including through the use of third party software.”

The good news is, you can appeal your termination with this form. But remember: Seeking a Snorlax is not, by Niantic’s standards, a good enough excuse for tinkering with your geolocation.
