Yaas Queens: Matildas Nail Another Win Against Brazil On Their Way to the Top

If you've been living under some sort of rock for the past few years, you've missed how fire the Australian women's soccer team, the Matildas, have been.

Last night, the Matildas showed the world again why they're the true Aussie team to watch out for. They beat Brazil's national team, marking their third consecutive win against the world number nine team. It also marked their fifth consecutive win overall which also equals their longest ever winning streak. 

They. Are. On. Fire. 

They won the match 3 – 2, with two goals to the Matildas' star player, Sam Kerr, who is also arguably the best player in women's soccer right now. She scored her second—and the winning—goal at the 66-minute mark and celebrated with her iconic backflip. It was a real moment.

Unfortunately, the game ended on a sour note after some of the Brazilian players refused to shake hands with the Australian players after the heated match.

Sam Kerr expressed her disappointment, especially seeing as the game was a friendly, not amounting to much other than world ranking.

"It was disappointing to see. We think of them as a very highly respectable team and I don't think we got the respect we deserved tonight after the last three performances," Kerr explained.

The win comes after the women beat the world number one, United States, as well as Japan and Brazil in the Tournament of Nations last month to take out the title. Sam Kerr impressed everyone after scoring the most goals in the tournament with five goals from three matches. The Matildas are now sitting at sixth in FIFA world rankings. 

So, it's time to get on board fellow Australians because the Matildas are ready to take on the world.
