Waltzing Matilda: An Epic Video Appreciation of Sam Kerr’s Killer Backflips

This week, the world was reminded of the Matildas’ ability to dominate on the soccer field, following their third consecutive win against Brazil (in two months).
We have already posted the requisite "Yaas Kweens" post celebrating the group's victory.
Today, we’re gonna focus on just one (admittedly, extremely flashy) element of the world number six team: striker Sam Kerr.
The 24-year-old signed up with the Matildas at the age of 15, and over the past nine years, she has steadily built up a reputation playing for Sydney FC, Perth Glory and even in America’s National Women’s Soccer League (where she holds the record for all-time leading goal scorer).
But it’s her signature flourish that has truly helped her to stand out: a celebratory backflip after goals.
Sam's fancy footwork and supreme sportsmanship aside, let’s take a moment to admire these killer flips. That's it. Just a series of incredible soccer clips. What, do you have something better to do?
First up, we have her spectacular three-part vault after sealing the winning goal against Brazil on Tuesday.
Here she is again from July, after giving the Matildas their second goal on the way to a decisive victory against Japan. (Skip to 1:07)
Just one month earlier, you could see her execute a similarly precise leap while scoring for Sky Blue FC in the States. (Skip to 1:26)
While we’re in the American league, check out her game-winning goal for Sky Blue against Seattle in August. No backflip here, sadly, but she still manages an impressive slide after securing the 5 – 4 win. It was her fourth goal of the night; a NWSL record. (Skip to 3:45)
Finally, admire this textbook flip from the W League Grand Final all the way back in 2013. (Skip to 0:13)
If you have others, feel free to share below. However, given the Matildas’ run lately, you can probably expect plenty more flips in the future.
And if she's announced as one of the three final contenders for FIFA Women's Player of 2017 on Friday, we'll flip out too.
