Socceroos, Listen to Your Friend, Sam Kerr: The Honduras Match Will Be "Rough"

Two things have become glaringly apparent about Australian soccer in recent weeks.

The first: Our men’s team, the Socceroos, was not quite equipped to coast into the World Cup (even less so now that Tim Cahill’s recovering from an injury).

The second: Sam Kerr, the backflipping champion of the women’s team, the Matildas, knows her stuff.

So, the Socceroos should heed her warning, which was recently published by the ABC.

In her analysis of the Roos’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Honduras, Kerr said Australia can “expect a very rough game”.

“I watched them play while I was living in America and they certainly picked up a lot of yellow and red cards,” she wrote.

“I believe the Socceroos will qualify but I don't think it will be easy, especially considering how hard it is going to be on their bodies.”

You can read Kerr’s full analysis here.

The Socceroos play Honduras—in Honduras—this Saturday at 8:00am AEDT. Their striker, Anthony Lozano, has already told press, “We cannot let them go alive from the Olimpico.”

It’s worth noting that facing Honduras is the nightmare scenario we dreaded back in August.
