Woke Bae Kit Harington Calls Out Marvel Movies for Not Casting More Gay Actors

Harington wants to remind you that Marvel still has a way to go.

Kit Harington hasn't always been the poster boy for the "woke bae" movement (if you can even call it that), but it appears he's trying to turn a new leaf after calling out Marvel for dropping the ball on casting gay actors as superheroes.

In an interview with Variety, Harrington admitted that the Marvel Cinematic Universe lacked serious queer representation in their series.

"There's a big problem with masculinity and homosexuality that they can't somehow go hand in hand," Harington explained.

"That we can't have someone in a Marvel movie who's gay in real life and plays some superhero. I mean, when is that going to happen?"

His The Death and Life of John F. Donovan co-star, Thandie Newton, chimed in to add that the sports industry also has a problem with masculinity and queerness.

"The few people that have, you know, god, stepped into their true selves in an uncompromising way, in ten years time the effect that that will have," Newton said.

"It is changing, but we have to get behind those changes and keep pushing it."

Not everyone was in total agreement with what the actors had to say and some reminded them that there actually have been some queer actors cast in Marvel roles.

But most just praised him for his acknowledgement of the subject and for using his platform to highlight it.
