Will Aussies Ever Be Able to Watch “The Office” Superfan Episodes?

Bears. Beets. Battlestar galactica.

This week, NBC’s streaming service Peacock began airing superfan episodes of The Office in the US.

If you’re wondering what The Office superfan episodes are, let me break it down for ya.

With a large part of the population worked from home because of COVID-19 in 2020, we couldn’t help but watch a sitcom about people working in an office (me included).

Because of this, The Office was the most streamed TV show around the world, with 57 billion minutes streamed. That’s insane.

To celebrate the show's spike in views, NBC regained the US streaming rights back from Netflix and are now streaming it on their own service, Peacock.

Better still, the creator of the US version Greg Daniels jumped back into the editing studio and created extended superfan episodes for Seasons 1 and 3.

Each superfan extended episode includes never-before-seen footage and deleted scenes, interviews, featurettes, interviews and bloopers.

Seriously, I can’t deal right now.

How can Aussies watch it though?

Now, here’s the problem: it doesn’t look good… at the moment.

Peacock isn’t available to anyone in Australia. I even included this screenshot of what happens when you follow The Office link on their website.

RIP.

At the moment, you can watch The Office in Australia on Netflix, Stan, BINGE, Foxtel Now and Amazon Prime Video, but there are no superfan episodes.

However, in August last year Aussie streaming service Stan signed a deal with NBC Universal that would give Stan subscribers access to original programs from Peacock.

So, if you’ll allow me to jump to conclusions, then hopefully it’s only a matter of time before Aussies can watch the superfan episodes of The Office on Stan.

We've reached out to Stan to see if they can comment on this dream becoming a reality.

Until we get the official word though, you’ll just have to be content with watching the non-superfan episodes, even if you are a superfan.
