Where Can I Find My COVID-19 Vaccine Passport and Immunisation History Statement?

With the talk of vaccine passports and being protected against COVID-19 on everyone’s lips, you might be wondering how on earth you can find your COVID-19 passport once you’re fully jabbed.

It’s not an uncommon question, and many Aussies don’t even know what jabs they’ve had previously in their life, so it’s always good to know where you can find your immunisation history statement and your shiny new vaccine passport.

To help you avoid getting lost in the Medicare app, we’ve put together a quick list of instructions on where you can find both of these docs. Let’s get started.

Where can I find my COVID-19 vaccine passport?

So, you’re fully jabbed up with both doses of a COVID vaccine and you wanna know where you can find your lovely new passport?

All you gotta do is download the Medicare app or head to the Medicare website and log in with your myGov account.

If you’re under the age of 18 or are still on your parent's Medicare card, you’ll likely have to get them to sign in for you, as all your info will be in their myGov account.

If you’re an adult and don’t yet have your own myGov account, now is the perfect time to set one up.

And of course, if you’re not yet vaccinated against coronavirus, your first step is to book in and get both doses as quick as you can.

Once you’re logged into the Medicare website or app, scroll down to the tab that says, “Immunisation history” and click the “View immunisation history” button.

Here you will have access to two documents, but let’s focus on your COVID-19 certificate.

Scroll down and click on the button that says, “View COVID-19 digital certificate (PDF)” and it should display a simple document confirming that you’ve had both doses of the vaccine.

How can I add my COVID-19 digital certificate to my phone?

Now comes the passport side of things. Once you have a copy of your vaccine certificate, you’re going to want to add it to your phone so that you can use it as a ‘passport' in the coming months.

If you’ve got an Apple iPhone, all you have to do from here is click the button that says, “Add to Apple Wallet” underneath the digital certificate button.

This should then automatically add the doc to your Apple wallet along with any other cards you keep ready.

You can also save a PDF version of your digital certificate to the ‘Files’ app on your phone in case you want to use it to enter competitions that only vaxxed peeps can enter.

If you’ve got an Android phone, it’s the same deal except the button should say, “Save to phone” and then will automatically add it to your device.

Where can I find my immunisation history statement?

In case you wanna view all the jabs you’ve had in your life, including the COVID ones, you’ll need to get a copy of your immunisation history statement.

To find this, it’s the same deal as getting your COVID-19 digital certificate. Log in to the app or website and click on, “View immunisation history”.

Once you’re back on the immunisation history page, scroll down and click on the button that says, “View immunisation history statement (PDF)” and it should show you a list of all the vaccines you’ve had, as well as some of the ones you might be missing.

Other vaccinations included in the doc are usually part of the National Immunisation Program Schedule. This is the standard set of jabs given to Australians when they reach certain ages.

You probably won’t need this doc until you’re in your 70s and are due for another scheduled jab, but still, it’s fun to find out what you have had.

What if I follow these steps and still can’t find my COVID-19 certificate?

Finally, if you’re having a bit of trouble finding your certificate, i.e., it’s just not there, there are a few steps you can take to get your hands on it.

First of all, you’re not alone, there have been reports of this happening to quite a few Aussies, particularly in NSW.

Because of the lack of records, a spokesperson for NSW Health explained that there had been delays in updating the Australian Immunisation Record due to a system error, and in response, they have set up a website for people to manually report their vaccination.

In case you’re someone that still can’t find their certificate, you can either contact your vaccine provider or the Australian Immunisation Register to get it sorted.

And that’s it!

To be honest, while it’s fun to look at your vaccine history and flash your new vaccination passport, the most important thing is making sure you and your loved ones get vaccinated ASAP.
