Tinder Has Launched An In-App Vaccine Advocacy Initiative in Australia

Show off your vax stickers.

As lockdowns continue to impact the majority of the country, it’s now more important than ever to go and get your COVID-19 vaccine whenever you can.

To help give Gen Z a little bit of an extra push, Tinder has launched an in-app vaccine advocacy initiative, so that young Aussies can show their vaccine support through their Tinder profiles.

Not only will the new feature encourage vaccination rates, but it also aims to help connect Tinder members with valuable, easy to use resources and information on vaccines.

The profile stickers come in four cool designs, each with slightly different messages, including: “Vaccinated”, “Vaxing Soon”, “Immunity Together”, and “Vaccines Save Lives".

So, if you’ve had your jab, have booked your jab, or are still waiting to become eligible, you can display your vaccination status to let others know, and to encourage others to do the same.

This is also a great way for Tinder users to connect with matches that have likeminded values and help them confidently meet up (when it’s safe) without putting their health at risk.

You can find the stickers in Tinder’s in-app vaccination centre.

Included in the local resources are links to www.health.gov.au so that members can easily access government approved vaccine information and book an appointment at their nearest vaccination site.

“The pandemic really pushed our members to get creative to make new connections. Vaccinations have become a popular talking point on Tinder and mentions of ‘vaccine’ in member bios in Australia increased by 220 per cent comparing July 2021 to January 2021, and 30 per cent between July 2021 and June 2021—this is a new all-time high,” APAC Communications at Tinder Papri Dev, Senior Director said in a statement.

“As Australia’s vaccination drive gains momentum, we want to extend support and encouragement for our members to be better equipped to find their way back into IRL dating when it becomes a possibility.

“Our intent is to make dating safer everywhere and for everyone and Tinder vaccine stickers will make it both easy and fun to share your vaxxing vibe, and start something epic!”

The new advocacy initiative comes after Tinder revealed that in 2020, 40 per cent of Gen Z’s surveyed felt isolated by the lack of social interactions, with 36 per cent missing in-person interactions.

On top of this, 84 per cent agree that yes, dating apps have been helpful in remaining connected and meeting new people throughout the global pandemic.

So, essentially, young Aussies are feeling isolated due to the pandemic, and online interactions have been a huge help.

While lockdowns are still in plce, however, Tinder users will have to rely on virtual dates.
