When Iggy Azalea and Peppa Pig Fight, We All Lose

"Collab with me now or you’ll end up a breakfast special peppa."

Iggy Azalea has been threatening promising to drop a follow-up album to 2014’s The New Classic for a while now, but after some false starts, a dead-on-arrival 2018 EP and a whole lot of retitling, her second studio album, In My Defence, finally lands today.

It gives the artist formerly known as Amethyst Amelia Kelly another chance to climb the charts, just as she once did with her omnipresent hit "Fancy". But her star has declined significantly over the years, thanks to a number of missteps of her own making.

(For what it’s worth, her "Fancy" collaborator Charli XCX has been solidly living her best life.)

As we all know, the clearest route back to relevancy is via a good old fashioned beef, though Iggy has her eyes set on another form of meat, inciting a rivalry with animated porker Peppa Pig.

When she discovered Peppa was dropping her first album—titled My First Album—today as well, Iggy tweeted with forlorn resignation:

But then, when Peppa responded with much salt, the old Iggy roared back to life, offering to, bluntly, eat Peppa.

We’ll have to wait a week to see if Peppa triumphs over Iggy on the charts, and perhaps even longer to see if they officially collaborate (though Peppa’s tune "Bing Bong Zoo" pretty much sounds born for Azalea, and Iggy took it upon herself to make a mashup anyway).

Either way, can we request a rap battle?
