It Is Our Solemn Duty to Report Iggy Azalea’s New Album Flopped In Australia

Or… did you already know?
Here’s a modern parable to remind you that pride often comes before the fall.
Earlier this month, Iggy Azalea threatened to literally eat Peppa Pig when it became apparent the two would be competing for the top spot on the album charts with their new releases.
Little did Iggy know that her comeback album, In My Defence, would fail to even make the ARIA Top 50 in her home country, Australia, falling beneath such titanic releases as Eminem’s 14-year-old greatest hits compilation Curtain Call (#44), the debut from Melbourne band Gravemind (#30), and the latest effort from Sweden’s premiere speed-metal history teachers, Sabaton (#7).
ARIA confirmed with Student Edge that In My Defence was surveyed over the past week, but fell outside the Top 50. (It nonetheless notched #18 on the ARIA Urban charts and #13 on the Aussie artists chart.)
On America’s Billboard Top 200, it did a bit better: by debuting at exactly 50.

And over in the UK, though she didn’t appear to make the Top 100, she at least scored a place in the Top 10 R&B Albums.
(For what it’s worth, Peppa’s My First Album didn’t seem to place on any of the charts, but likely only because it probably wasn’t officially surveyed by any of the major counters.)
Though no one was really waiting for confirmation, this solidifies Azalea’s fall from grace. Her first album, The New Classic, peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts and hit #3 in the US and #5 in the UK. It even earned her four Grammy Award nominations. Its sorta-follow-up/re-release, Reclassified, didn’t fare as well, but placed respectably. In My Defence charts new lows… unless she can turn it around in the coming weeks.
On Twitter, Azalea—who had been valiantly slinging the independent record to her die-hard fans—expressed a feeling of defeat, but pledged to "keep on fighting".
Two weeks till I’m back in the

Studio!
Woke up today feeling a little defeated, ending the day feeling motivated.
I think sometimes I feel defeated because I look at the chart and see how much streaming impacts it, and think how can I win when I’m up against THAT?

But I also feel like: okay, and?
There are two options.
Quit. Or
shut up And just keep fighting.
So I’ll keep on fighting! https://t.co/HgfbI5vjB8
Smells like trouble to me.
