What Happened When 28 Schoolies Got Stuck In a Lift for More Than an Hour? They Snapchatted It, Obvs

Schoolies kicked off in grand fashion over the weekend, and we already have our first weird story from the Surfers Paradise celebrations.

See, 28 students piled into a hotel elevator on the Gold Coast on Saturday night, and despite pressing the button that would take them ‘up’, the elevator only went ‘down’.

And then it just got stuck.

According to Nine News, the party was trapped inside the elevator for more than an hour. Thankfully, when emergency services arrived, most of the teens were in okay condition, after a brief panic.

Four had to be treated for dehydration, however.

“At some point people were struggling to breathe, but eventually we got some air in somehow,” lift patron Sam Jury told Nine.

At least they captured the incident for Snapchat.

"We are deadset stuck in this f****** elevator," the Snap's narrator informs us in the above clip.

We didn’t realise this was a warning that needed to be shared, but please take lifts responsibly this Schoolies.
