Schoolies On Inflatable Unicorns Almost Taken By The Sea; Fished Out Of Water By Heroes

Schoolies 2016: Arrests are up. Balcony-hopping is up. And unicorn-raft rescue operations are up too.
According to the SMH, a fisherman yesterday rescued four teenage girls on inflatable animal rafts drifting “helplessly into the western entrance current” off the coast of Cowes, on Phillip Island.
They were, more specifically, riding two inflatable unicorns, two flamingos and a dinosaur. (We’re not entirely sure how four girls operated five rafts, but then again, not a lot of this story makes sense anyway, so we’ll go with it.)
Fisherman Alex King was seeking squid at the time when he noticed the girls floating towards water that has been known to harbour great white sharks.
"My mate Tristan said, 'Check that out, there's a pink flamingo,'" he told radio station 3AW.
King said the girls were headed for the Bass Straight before he interceded.
We didn’t think to include any ‘unicorn-raft’ guidelines in our ‘How To Do Schoolies Safely’ guide. Sorry ‘bout that. Just keep an eye out for fishermen, we guess.
