For guys
Put simply, guys are uncomplicated:

Do buy:

• Anything that shines or moves or beeps
• Anything that plugs into a TV
• Anything that makes a massive amount of noise
• Chocolate

Don’t buy:

• Clothing. Guys secretly hate getting clothing and think it’s a waste of a present opportunity
• Ditto for underwear
• Magazine subscriptions. Sure, it’s a thoughtful gift that literally keeps on giving, but guys are too simple to see that. They’ll be disappointed, trust me.

For girls
How can you write the ultimate gift guide for girls? Frankly, you can’t! But here are couple of tips that will work:

Do buy:

• Clothing. You may miss the mark completely, but girls will love that you made an effort
• Jewellery. See clothing (although always make sure you can take it back)
• Magazine subscriptions. It’s a thoughtful gift that literally keeps on giving
• Chocolate

Don’t buy:

• Anything that shines or moves or beeps
• Adventure experiences
• Gift vouchers. Come on, you’re more creative than that!
