Welp, the Organisers of That Fake "Fortnite" Festival Are Getting Sued

It’s "Fyre Fest" all over again.
Fortnite makers Epic Games, who are being sued by a number of dancers claiming copyright over their moves, have decided to try this whole 'suing' thing for themselves.
Their target? Exciting Events, a promotions company who ran an unofficial "Fortnite event of the year" in Norwich, England over the weekend, and which basically became the "Fyre Fest" of live gaming events for children.
For the 3,000 attendees (!), there was apparently a single climbing wall, four go-karts, a handful of archery targets and a trailer—about the size of a car—that had been tunnelled out to replicate the experience of climbing through a cave. There was also a small bank of PCs to play the actual game.
According to the Guardian, organisers charged £12 ($AUD19) entry to the event, though wristbands for unlimited access to additional activities cost an extra £20 ($AUD32). This is the point at which we remind you Fortnite is totally free to play.
Attendees flooded the event page on Facebook to complain about the long queues to get in, and the "shambles" that awaited them. The page has since been taken offline.
Shaun Lord, the owner of Exciting Events, said problems were exacerbated when eight of his 19 staff failed to turn up. He also said he had refunded anyone who asked for money back on the day.
But that’s not enough for Epic Games, who confirmed it had "issued a claim against the organisers" in London’s High Court, the BBC reports.
"The quality of our player experience is incredibly important to us, whether it's inside the game or at official public events like last year's Fortnite Pro-Am,” a statement from Epic read.
"Epic Games was not in any way associated with the event that took place in Norwich."
In other news, the U.S. Copyright Office recently ruled against Alfonso Ribeiro in his attempts to copyright the "Carlton" dance, which he alleges has been ripped off in Fortnite. That doesn't end his claim against Epic Games, but it's certainly not the kind of news that makes you excitedly break into dance.
