Weird New Feud Alert: Cirque du Soleil v Justin Timberlake

It’s the first of the month and you know what that means? Time for a new music feud!

For April, the universe has contrived a gladiatorial battle between Cirque du Soleil and Justin Timberlake for our amusement.

According to Sky News, the acrobatic performance company has sued Timberlake for allegedly copying part of their original compositions in his song “Don’t Hold The Wall”.

“Don’t Hold The Wall” was released in 2013 on Timberlake’s album The 20/20 Experience – Part 1 (aka, the good one).

Though never released as a single, the album itself sold more than two million copies worldwide.

The Circus of the Sun believes the song borrows from their tune “Steel Dream”, from Cirque du Soleil's 1997 production Quidam.

They’re now seeking a minimum of $US800,000 (about $AUD1.04 million) in damages for copyright infringement from Timberlake, producer Timbaland and Sony Music Entertainment.
