We Ranked the Five Most Aussie Breakfasts

This is gonna be controversial.
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so regardless of whether you’re having something full of fruit and grains or a feed that should only be reserved for the weekend, you’re better off not skipping your brekkie.
But which is superior? We've decided to rank the five most Aussie brekkies from the least Australian to the most.
Let's dive straight in.
5. Porridge/oats.
Starting out at the bottom of the Aussie barrel: porridge can be amazeballs when you add some fruit, soy milk or brown sugar over top. Despite that, it tends to maintain its spot as the least favourite Aussie breakfast.
Much like avocado and liquorish, you either love it or hate it.
This warm brekkie is also coming in last because it’s the least Australian on our list. Sure, it’s a staple for so many Aussie kids and families but it’s technically a British dish. So, soz not soz porridge.

4. Bacon and egg sandwich.
Next up is the bacon and egg sammie. It's a variation of the full cooked breakfast, just way more portable.
Savoury breakfast fans cheer when the eggs and bacon come out. Chuck in some BBQ sauce or maybe even a cheeky hash brown, and this is the perfect lazy Sunday (or tradie) breakfast that does not miss.
Much like porridge, the ingredients in the bacon and egg sandwich are also very popular in other countries around the world—the most notable being the US. The BBQ sauce is the glue giving this bready meal its Australian flair.
Still amazing tho, would recommend.

3. Milo.
For those of you who prefer a liquid breakfast, this has got to be your favourite!
Milo is the quintessential Aussie beverage and if you grew up without it, you have my deepest sympathies.
This chocolate-flavoured malt drink has been around since the 1930s and it's always made best when the Milo to milk ratio has made you question your measuring skills.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the fact that Australia has a pretty bougie coffee culture, but although our lattes and cappuccinos create envy around the globe, it doesn’t quite hit the Aussie mark the way that Milo does.
2. Toast.
Next up is toast, specifically Vegemite toast.
You didn’t think we were going to write an article about Aussie brekkies without including Vegemite did you? Never.
This thick, dark brown spread made from yeast extract makes people in other countries shudder, but us Aussies are built for it.
We’ve all seen the videos of a poor soul slapping a hefty spoonful of the spread onto unbuttered toast (or worse, straight into their gob) and it breaks hearts all over the country (we’re looking at you Selena Gomez).
While Vegemite toast is probably the most Australian bread brekkie you can get, we can’t forget about toppings such as peanut butter or Nutella that also deserve a mention.
We also couldn’t forget about crumpets. While not technically toast, they do go in a toaster, so we had to give them a little bit of love too.

1. Weet-bix.
Finally, taking out the top spot is, of course, Weet-bix.
We've all heard the jingle: "Aussie kids are Weet-bix kids."
While our neighbours in New Zealand have tried to take a claim on this one as well, I reckon we’d be more than happy to share it with them ‘cos it’s just so top tier.
This whole-grain wheat cereal is a super versatile, classic and cheap option for so many of us. Nostalgia aside, it’s also a reasonably healthy option, with whole grains and added vitamins. Plus, once you add fruit it’s almost unbeatable.
You can even get it gluten free nowadays, so no one misses out.
So, there's our ranking of the top 5 most Aussie breakfasts.
If you disagree on any of these, please go easy on us. We just love brekkie.
