Flashback: Watch James Corden Give Birth To “Carpool Karaoke” In 2011 With George Michael

This should briefly satisfy your "Carpool Karaoke" appetite (until the next vid, at least).

Though James Corden has only become widely known outside of the UK since taking over The Late, Late Show last year, he was a beloved entertainer in England for years before then.

Of course, much of his newfound international fame can be attributed to his ceaseless “Carpool Karaoke” videos, in which he’s joined for a driving singalong by a famous performer. (Wait, why are we telling you this? There is no way you’ve escaped it thus far.)

We thought, given his most recent drive with Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, it’s time to share the video that started at all.

Back in 2011, Corden – in character as Gavin & Stacey’s Smithy – was joined by George Michael for a bit of “Carpool Karaoke” to kick off BBC’s annual charity telethon Comic Relief.

Obviously, the public loved it - which is why Corden resuscitated the bit for his Late, Late Show debut in 2015.

The rest of the vid features Paul McCartney, Keira Knightley and Tom Felton among other notable Brits - but none of them are singing, so….
